The 41st Passion Play season in 2010 in Oberammergau is the result of a magnificent communal effort by the whole village, in keeping with a 376-year-old tradition. For Christian Stückl´s production, Stefan Hageneier has designed sets, costumes and boldly colored tableaux vivants. Brigitte Maria Mayer´s sumptuously staged photographs provide a vivid impression of the Play. And so, together with this illustrated volume, may St. Luke´s description of the suffering of Jesus Christ at the end of his gospel be clearly conveyed to everyone: “And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding the things which were done, smote their breasts, and returned.”
